NucleoProtect® RNA is a nontoxic, aqueous RNA stabilization and protection solution for cells and tissues. The solution permeates submerged, unfrozen cell and tissue samples (max. 5 mm diameter). The RNA within these samples is protected from degradation during subsequent storage.
Treatment of cells and tissue with NucleoProtect® RNA solution eliminates the need for immediate processing or shock-freezing of samples in liquid nitrogen after harvest. Cell or tissue samples should be treated with NucleoProtect RNA as soon as possible after collection to obtain best results.
RNA from samples stored in NucleoProtect® RNA can be isolated using standard RNA isolation kits and reagents, such as MACHEREY NAGEL´s NucleoSpin® RNA, NucleoSpin® RNA Plus, NucleoSpin® RNA Plus XS, NucleoSpin® RNA XS, NucleoMag® RNA, or NucleoZOL. Alternatively, RNA isolation kits or methods from other providers may be used.

Efficient stabilization of RNA in samples prior to RNA Isolation
Cell culture and mouse tissue samples (fresh, stabilized, and non-stabilized) were used for subsequent RNA isolation with the NucleoSpin® RNA Plus kit. In this experimental setup NucleoProtect® RNA preserves RNA integrity within samples as good as or better than competitor Solutions (MN = NucleoProtect® RNA; S = RNAlater®; Z = DNA/RNA ShieldTM).
NucleoProtect® RNA prevents RNA degradation after sample storage at – 75 °C
Tissue samples stored at – 75°C (stabilized, and non-stabilized) were used for subsequent RNA isolation with the NucleoSpin® RNA Plus kit. NucleoProtect® RNA effectively prevents degradation of RNA that can occur in non-stabilized samples.
NucleoProtect® RNA preserves RNA integrity during storage at 37°C
Stabilized tissue samples were stored at 37°C and 4°C for 24 h. RNA was isolated with the NucleoSpin® RNA Plus kit. NucleoProtect® RNA effectively prevents degradation of RNA even at high ambient temperatures.
(Samples were allowed to be permeated by NucleoProtect® RNA before storage at 37 °C).
Protection from freeze-thaw damage
RNA integrity in samples stabilized with NucleoProtect® RNA is perfectly preserved even after 10 freeze-thaw cycles.
