An E. coli strain that carries the modified cloned BsmBI gene from Bacillus stearothermophilus B61. BsmBI-v2 is an engineered and improved version of BsmBI. (NEB uses the designation "v2" or "HF" in the name to indicate engineered enzymes.)

One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme required to digest 1 µg of λ DNA in 1 hour at 55°C in a total reaction volume of 50 µl.
